How To Paint The Floor Of Your House Correctly

Painting the floor of the house has become a simple and inexpensive alternative to renew its appearance and also be fashionable. Painting is a trend, and there are a thousand and a few things that can be done.

The first thing is that any type of floor can be painted regardless of whether it is from the garage or the kitchen. However, some types of floors may indeed need a special treatment to open the pores and for the paint to penetrate well. To know this, it is best always to have the experience of Oahu Pro Painters who are dedicated to it.

What Paint Should We Choose?

There is no doubt that this is a very important first step before starting to paint the floor. It is necessary to consider the use, the activity, and the type of soil to decide it. These are the options:

  • Acrylic: It is diluted with water, and the advantage is that they dry very quickly. It is the most suitable for painting the garage, or any area that is finished in cement or asphalt. It should be noted that the materials we use for this type of paint should be washed only with water.
  • Synthetic: This paint is diluted with white spirit, and therefore, the materials that we use will be cleaned with the same. It is indicated for asphalt surfaces such as those found in warehouses and industrial buildings. It takes about six hours to dry and wait 24 hours between coats.
  • Two-component resins: They are mixed with hardeners at the time of use. Those with epoxy are the best for interiors and those of polyurethane for exteriors.

How To Do It

Now that you are clear about the paint you need let’s get into the matter. How is the floor painted?

The first thing to do is to prepare the soil. Depending on the material, it is done in one way or another. For example, on wooden floors, we vacuum and scrub with water and vinegar. In the concrete ones, we will use a floor scrubber and a stiff bristle brush to remove any remaining dirt. In those of mud or asphalt, we will vacuum and scrub as we normally do.

We will put the masking tape in those areas where we do not want the paint to reach. On wooden and concrete floors, we will need a primer first so that the paint will grip well. After this, we will mix the paint well and begin to paint with a roller.
